Presence in Solidarity

How we show up matters… Presence in solidity requires listening - to ourselves and others, movement / action aligned with our values, and community.

Actively being present with and for others, especially those who are struggling or marginalized, with open hearts and eyes is our responsibility.

Each of us has unique gifts that can support the bigger change that is opening up in front of us right now.

Sometimes we show up quietly. Sometimes we show up with a roar. Sometimes we lead. Sometimes we follow. Sometimes we take small, daily actions. Sometimes we do something that changes everything. Sometimes we hold space for others to rejuvenate so they can take bold action.

We take action, we make mistakes, we learn, we adjust, we show up again.

I stand for true equality and justice and creating a society where everyone has equal dignity, rights, and opportunities no matter their social location. I stand for creating new systems and communities that are fair and just and recognize our interconnectedness - with each other and the earth.

What do you stand for? How will you use your gifts in alignment with your values?

Honoring the Land and First Nations Peoples of the Land

I was born and lived most of my life on the ancestral and unceded lands (Tovaangar) of the Tongva people. I honor and recognize the Tongva as the traditional and current caretakers of the land that I will always know as home. It is through their example that I am reminded of our greater responsibility to take care of Mother Earth and to take care of each other.

I currently live on the unceded land of the Chumash people. In recognizing the traditional custodians of the land, I pay respect for the Chumash people, the history and culture of the community. I pay respect to the Chumash Elders past, present and future for they hold the memories, the traditions, and the culture of this area where I now live.
